SoundTrax is an audio editing and mixing package that contains all the basic tools you might hope to find in a free application.
Nero SoundTrax has a lot in common with popular free audio editor, Audacity. It allows you to record and edit multiple audio tracks, add effects, fades, and make use of audio utilities such as sound normalisation and pitch tuning. A number of popular file formats are supported, including MP3, WAV, and AAC. There are also some features for the more experiences users, such as a beat editor, and some tools that are more of a novelty such as a text to speech function.
With SoundTrax being a free app, there aren't many negatives to take away. Sure, it would be nice to support more audio formats, and the interface can start to look messy as you work with more tracks, but these are minor concerns. Perhaps the biggest issue is that the installation carries unnecessary bloatware with it. And it appears to no longer be supported by the developer, so any technical issues it has going forward will not be fixed.
