A lot of old computer platforms have their enthusiasts. Commodore's Amiga sold from coast to coast and boasted technology a decade ahead of its time. The Armstrad CPC was beloved in its market, offering computing power to a small region that was starved of it. It covers a huge range of years and file formats. Odds are, if you used a given machine before Windows swept the market around the new millennium, you'll be able to view images made on it with RECOIL. Its actual image viewing functions are serviceable, allowing you to zoom in or out within the limits of a given image's format or scroll through a large collection of images.
Overall, RECOIL may not be a perfect image viewer, but it doesn't need to be. For the formats it covers, it is the fastest and most versatile option out there, and for those hoping to (for example) translate forgotten PC-88 games, it is a perfect (and free!) option.
